Does Virginity our second God?

Talk about this topic, for sure will create controversy. Almost all of Indonesian people think that virginity is very important, and women have to protect their self from everything that makes the lose their virginity. If a woman did not virgin anymore, people will think she is a bad woman. (Damn it!!!)

In our lovely country, people worship virginity. Actually, I am a bit confuse, who worship it most, man or woman? Because, usually, man won’t marry with woman who have not virgin anymore. But, if I asked, who makes a woman did not virgin? Absolutely Man, although some cases a woman may lose their virginity coz’ of some activities, but man is the most dominant. So, why they asked about woman virginity when they want to marry them? What the hell is it? Does virginity will affect their life after married?

Many people think when a woman did not virgin anymore, they are not precious and they do not deserve to get marry or having family. They worship virginity like a second god, and if you lost it, mean u will lose your right to have a family. It is like an heirloom that we have to keep and protect.

In my opinion, people who worship virginity are narrow-minded. Those people are selfish. Let’s talk about this. According to Oxford dictionary, virgin means person who has never had sex. What if a woman got rape? Of course they will not virgin anymore. If it is right, how poor those women, coz many man do not want to be their husband. Because of that stereotype, woman who is victim of rape usually got stress, depression, and sometimes choice suicide as the way out from this pressure. In this case, we also contribute to the decision that the woman chose.

I think there is no relationship between virginity and having a happy family. When people decide to marry, it means they want to live together ever after, facing happiness and sadness, growth up their children. All of this needs loyalty and trust does not virginity. But how come people think virginity can affect a marriage? It’s a really stupid mindset.
